Ankle approaches Flashcards
1
Q
Anterior Internervous plane
A
- Between EDL & EHL both supplied by (deep peroneal nerve)

2
Q
Anterior Ankle approaches Incision
A
- Midline anterior
- Between 2 malleoli
- Cut skin only (10 cm incision)

3
Q
Anterior Ankle approaches Superficial dissection
A
- Protect superficial peroneal nerve
- Incise deep fascia/extensor retinaculum in line with skin incision

4
Q
Anterior Ankle approaches Deep dissection
A
- Find plane between EDL and EHL above ankle joint
- Identify neurovascular bundle
- Mobilizing tibialis anterior artery and deep peroneal nerve
- Retract EHL and neurovascular bundle medially
- Retract EDL laterally then incise the joint capsule inline with incision
5
Q
Anterior Ankle approaches Dangers
A
- Superficial peroneal nerve cutaneous branches at greatest danger during skin incision
- Neurovascular bundle (deep peroneal nerve and anterior tibial artery) above joint runs between EDL and EHL crosses behind EHL at level of the joint
6
Q
Anterior Ankle approaches
A

7
Q
what are the different approaches of the Ankle?
A
- Anterior
- Anterolateral
- Posterolateral
- Posteromedial
8
Q
Anterolateral Ankle approaches
A

9
Q
Posterolateral Ankle approaches
A

10
Q
