Q

1 strength of lorenz

A
  • One strength is there supporting evidence that the chicks become attached to the first moving object, not a specific object
  • this comes from Guiton, He exposed chicks to yellow rubber gloves for the feeding them during the first few weeks and they became imprinted on the gloves, he also found a male chickens later try to mate with the gloves showing that this early imprinting is linked to later reproductive behaviour

Q

2 weaknesses of Lorenz

A
  • Extrapolation, This is defined as when using animal data and generalising this to humans is questionable as we are biologically and behavioural different
  • Another weakness is generalisation, the mammal’s attachment differs from the chicks form of attachment to this cannot be generalised to humans
