Anatomy - Liver Flashcards
What enters and leaves the porta hepatis?
Enters:
- Portal vein
- Hepatic artery proper
- Hepatic plexus
Leaves:
- Bile duct
What are the 4 ligaments of the liver?
What are the roles?
Coronary ligaments
Triangle ligaments
Falciform ligament –> Ligamentum teres
Falciform = connects liver to abdominal wall
Coronary + triangle = attach liver to diaphragm
What is the clinical significance of the portosystemic anastamoses?
During portal hypertension caused by blockage, bloodflow is redirected via anastamoses
What is the nerve supply of the liver?
What is Glisson’s capsule and what is its nerve supply?
Hepatic plexus
Fibrous liver covering
Supplied by lower intercostal nerves
What is the arterial supply of the gall bladder?
What is its sympathetic and parasympathetic nerve innervation?
Cystic artery
Sympathetic = coeliac plexus
Parasympathetic = vagus nerve
What is the venous drainage of the gall bladder?
What is the ampulla of Vater?
Neck = cystic veins
Fundus + body = hepatic sinusoids
Where common bile duct and pancreatic duct join
What is the portal vein formed of?
Splenic vein
Superior mesenteric vein
Inferior mesenteric vein
What are the tributaries of the portal vein?
What are the tributaries of the splenic vein?
Short gastric vein
Left gastro-omental vein
Pancreatic vein
Inferior mesenteric vein
What are the tributaries of the superior mesenteric vein?
Right gastro-omental vein
Inferior pancreaticoduodenal vein
Jejunal and ileal veins
Ileocolic vein
Right and middle colic veins
