Anatomy - Kidneys Flashcards
What is the blood supply to the ureters?
Renal artery Gonadal artery Aortic artery Common iliac artery
What are the nerves of the lumbar plexus?
Iliohypogastric nerve Ilio-inguinal nerve Genito-femoral nerve Lateral-cutaneous nerve Femoral nerve
What is the sensory and motor supply to the abdomen?
Continuation of intercostal nerves (T7 onwards)
What is the sympathetic stimulation to the abdominal viscera?
The aortic plexus Arises from sympathetic ganglion from sympathetic trunk
What is the parasympathetic supply to the stomach, SI, and abdominal organs?
Right vagus nerve branches
What are the 4 posterior abdominal wall muscles?
Psoas major Psoas minor Quadratics lumborum Iliacus
What is the blood drainage of the diaphragm?
Inferior phrenic veins
What ligaments hold the diaphragm in place?
Arcuate ligaments
What is the OIIA of the quadratics lumborum?
O = iliac crest and iliolumbar ligament I = transverse process of L1-4 I = anterior rami of T12-L4 spinal nerves A = extension and lateral flex ion of vertebral column
What is the OIIA of the psoas major?
O = transverse process of T12-L5 I = lesser trochanter of femur I = anterior rami of L1-3 nerves A = flexion of thigh at hip and lateral flexion of vertebral column
What is the OIIA of the psoas minor?
O = T12-L1 vertebral bodies I = pectineal line I = anterior rami of L1 spinal nerve A = flexion of vertebral column
What is the OIIA of the iliacus?
O = iliac fossa and anterior inferior iliac spine I = lesser trochanter of femur I = femoral nerve (L2-4) A = flexion and lateral rotation of thigh at hip
What is the blood supply to the suprarenal gland?
Renal artery Superior, middle, inferior suprarenal arteries
What are the boundaries of the inguinal canal?
Roof = internal oblique and transverse abdominis Posterior wall = transversalis fascia Anterior wall = aponeurosis of external oblique Floor = inguinal ligament
Where do the nerves to the kidneys and ureters arise from?
Renal nerve plexus
