Anatomy: Lecture 2 - How do our Body Systems keep us alive? Flashcards
1
Q
What are the systems of the body?
A
- Cardiovascular
- Gastrointestinal
- Respiratory
- Endocrine
- Nervous
- Lympathic
- Renal (urinary)
- Musculoskeletal
- Integumentary (dermatology)
- Haematology
- Reproductive
2
Q
What are the four basic types of tissue?
A
- Muscle
- Epithelia
- Nerves
- Connective tissue
3
Q
What are larger molecules digested into?
A
- Proteins
- Fats
- Carbohydrates
4
Q
Describe how Lymph is made?
A
Fluid is squeezed out of capillaries by the blood pressure.
Tissue fluid is then reabsorbed by venules
Tissue fluid taken up by the lymphatic system is called lymph.
5
Q
What does the Integumentary system do?
A
- Physical barrier
- Waterproof barrier
- Regulate body temperature
- Protects against radiation (produces melanocites)
6
Q
What does the lympathic system do?
A
Act as part of the immune system
7
Q
What is the purpose of the reproductive system?
A
Survival of the species
