Anatomy and Physiology defined Flashcards
Anatomy
the study of the form and structure of an organism
Physiology
the study of the process of living organisms- how and why they work
pathology
the study of disease
pathophysiology
the study of how normal phycological process are altered by disease

autoimmune
abnormal condition in which the immune system produces antibodies against its own tissues
benign
nonreacurring; nonmalignant, used to describe cancers in which the patient has a good chance of survival
chronic
an illness or injury characterized by long duration and slow progression
congenital
a condition that is present at birth and may be the result of either genetic or environmental factors
debilitating
having a weakening of fatiguing effect
