analysis and interpretation of correlation, levels of measurement, content analysis and coding, thematic analysis Flashcards
1
Q
what is a correlational study?
A
produces a correlational coefficient
2
Q
what is a correlational coefficient?
A
a numerical value showing the degree of which two co-variables are related
3
Q
what is the range of correlational coefficient
A
negative 1 to positive 1 0 means no correlation
4
Q
what is nominal ?
A
measures data through counting frequency
5
Q
what is ordinal?
A
measures data through ranking data into place order
6
Q
what is interval?
A
when there’s equal intervals on a measurement scale
7
Q
thematic analysis?
A
data is reviewed repeatedly so that the researcher can identify trends in the meaning conveyed by language.
8
Q
content analysis?
A
- identifying important categories from a sub sample of responses. The
researchers then work through the written data, counting the number of occurrences of
each of the categories to produce quantitative data or finding similar themes which would
keep the data still in a qualitative format
