How has InBev expanded?
To Latin America, Europe, South Korea. In 2016, to South Africa selling sweetened beers for women.
How does growth work for alcohol companies?
People prioritize familiar brands and heritage, not innovation
How do health and profit conflict? What does it cause?
Governments want to control alcohol consumption but simultaneously make money from them. This results in advertising restrictions
What are the two ways of limiting advertising? What is preferred by companies?
- Voluntary Codes of Conduct
- Regulations by law
The first is preferred.
What was Loi Evin?
A law in response to high smoking/drinking that prohibited people/lifestyle in ads, mandatory to include health messages, and prohibited advertising in TV, cinemas.
Was Loi Evin successful?
Yes, more so for tobacco than alcohol.
