What is meant by the dark and quiet cockpit concept?
All systems normal when:
1) Overhead, main, glareshield and control pedestal panels have no lights on.
2) No aural warnings are being issued.
3) The selector knobs are positioned at twelve o’clock.
What does an illuminated white bar indicate?
A white striped bar illuminates on any button to indicate that it is not in its normal position.
What is the purpose of the FORMAT LOCATION buttons on the CCD?
Places cursor on associated display (PFD, MFD or EICAS)
What is checked when the ANNUNCIATORS TEST button is pushed?
When actuated to the TEST position (momentary position) allows checking of the striped bars and caption indications in all pushbuttons located on the main panel, overhead panel, control pedestal, allowing verification of lamp integrity.
What regulates the brightness of the standby/clock lighting and where can it be found?
The STB/CLK controller is found in position 1 on FO Glareshield Lights Panel.
Where can door information be displayed? What is the meaning of an amber dashed door status?
Door information is displayed on the synoptic status page of the MFD. Amber dashes indicated the associated door status is undetermined.
How is the EMERG ENTRY cockpit door sequence started? What indicates that the sequence has been inhibited?
The EMERG ENTRY button on the Control Panel in the Passenger Cabin needs to be pressed steadily for at least 3secs to activate the DING-DONG alarm sequence in the cockpit.
A REG LED indicated that the INHIB button in the cockpit was pressed and EMERG ENTRY is temporarily inhibited.
The Display Units (DUs) can be manually or automatically reverted. Which modes for the DU reversion control are there, and which DUs can be reverted?
There are four different modes for the DU reversion control for each pilot:
1) PFD
2) MFD
3) EICAS
4) AUTO
Only DU 2 and DU 4 can be reverted.
In automatic mode, when does the EICAS declutter and what items are de-cluttered?
An automatic mode de-clutters the EICAS after takeoff. De-cluttering occurs 30 seconds after landing gear retraction and flap/slat retraction, if all parameters are displaying normal indications. The following items are de-cluttered from the display:
* APU
* Auto brake
* Engine Vibration
* Flap Position
* Landing Gear Position
* Oil Pressure
* Oil Temperature
* Pitch Trim Green Band
* Slat Position, and
* Speed Brake Position
From where do the internal Emergency Lights Power Units (ELPU) batteries receive their charging power?
Six dedicated Emergency Lights Power Units (ELPU) with internal batteries are connected to the DC BUS 1 sufficient to supply all emergency lights for approximately 10 minutes.
For how long do the cabin lights need to be on to charge the Photo Luminescent escape path strips?
For 15 minutes of ceiling and entrance cabin lighting exposure in BRIGHT mode the strip luminescence will be available for 7 hours.
How many service doors are fitted to the Embraer 190?
Two jetway service doors on the right side (forward and aft location)
Disregarding the pilots DV windows, how many Emergency Exits are there and where are they located?
Six. Both service and passenger doors are designed as type I emergency doors. Two Overwing Emergency Exits are designed as type Ill emergency doors
What monitors the door positions?
Proximity sensors processed by the proximity sensor evaluation modules (PSEM), monitor the doors. An EICAS message displays whenever an unlocked condition of any external door has occurred. Additionally, the MFD indicates the open-door condition in a graphical representation.
