Q

Plowing patterns

  • Plowing begins at the edge of the field and work towards the center of the field always throwing the soil towards the outside of the field.
  • It is themost commonly used system for ploughing in Asia
  • It is commonly used with moldboards, discs.

8
Q

Plowing patterns

  • Is plowed in runs parallel to each other. It starts at one boundary of the field and ends at the opposite with turns being made on the headlands.
  • This system is used for bigger pieces of land and can only be used for tined implements, rotovators, harrows and reversible ploughs.
  • Most field efficient system
A

Q

Plowing patterns

  • Requires plowing to begin at the edges.
  • Furrow slices are turned to the edges of the field
  • This system can also be used with all types of ploughs

9
Q

Plowing patterns

  • ploughing to begin in the center of the field and works out to the edges.
  • It requires some measurement of the field to establish the center point and if done correctly leaves a level field with drainage channels on the edges.
  • Furrow slices are turned to the center of the field.
  • This system can be used with all types of ploughs.

Q

Tillage equipment used in Secondary tillage

A

Disc harrow

12
Q

Basic parts of Disc Harrow

A
  • Disc
  • Gang
  • Gangbolt
13
Q

Basic parts of Disc Harrow

is the circular concave revolving steel plate used for cutting the soil clods. Disc is made of a high class heat-treated hardened steel

14
Q

Basic parts of Disc Harrow

Each set of discs that are mounted on a common shaft

14
Q

Basic parts of Disc Harrow

A square headed bolt from the other end, a set of discs are mounted on the gang bolt.

14
Q

Classes of Disc Harrow

A
  1. Single action
  2. Double action
14
Q

Classes of Disc Harrow

two gangs placed end to end.

A

single action disc harrow

15
# Classes of Disc Harrow * consist of two or more gangs. * A set of two or more gangs follow behind the set of the other one or two. * The gang throw the soil in opposite direction
Double action disc harrow
15
types of **double action disc harrow**
* Tandem disc harrow * Off-set disc harrow
16
# types of double action disc harrow comprise of two or four gangs angled in opposite direction
Tandem disc harrow
17
# types of double action disc harrow two gangs in tandem
Off-set disc harrow
18
a method of placing the seeds in the soil for germination
Planting/Seeding/Sowing
19
Sowing methods
* Broadcsting * Dibbling * Drilling * Transplanting
20
# Sowing methods random scattering of the seeds on the surface of the seedbed or field
Broadcasting
21
# Sowing methods placing the seeds in holes made on the seedbed or field
Dibbling
22
# Sowing methods dropping the seeds in furrows in a continuous flow and covering them with soil
Drilling
22
# Sowing methods planting of seedlings in prepared field
Transplanting
23
Broadcasting seed equipment
* Drum Seeder * Drone Seeder
24
Drilling seed equipment
Seed drill
24
Types of cone
* Hollow cone * Solid cone * Standard flat fan * Even flat fan
24
# Types of cone finer droplets than solid cone
Hollow cone
24
# Types of cone ideal when pesticides are applied sideward or upward
Solid cone
25
# Types of cone suitable for low growing crops, weeds and soil especially when using herbicide
* Standard Flat Fan * Even Flat Fan
26
Types of sprayers
* Hand held sprayer * Hand compression sprayer * Knapsack hand compression sprayer * Knapsack sprayer * Power spayers * Tractor mounted power sprayer/duster * Knapsack power sprayer cum duster
