Q

poetic devices used by Robert Frost in his “After Apple-Picking”

A
  • structure: free-verse with no set meter or rhyme scheme. Frost does use rhyme, but not a set rhyme scheme
  • note also that Frost capitalizes the first word of each line, but lines are of different lengths; they tend to follow the flow or informal conversation rather than a set meter
  • sound devices: note the assonance and consonance
  • imagery: words create a picture or feeling of the experience and of the author’s insights
