What are adverbs?
Adverbs are words that modify or tell us more about Verbs. They can also modify adjectives, other adverbs and even the tone f the whole sentence
How can adverbs be identified?
By there functions.
What is an adverb of manner?
This tells us how something is done
E.g. hungrily, quickly, fast, well ( usually end in ly)
What is an adverb of place?
This tells us where something took happened
E.g. here, there, nowhere, home, far, near
What is an adverb of time?
This tells us when something happened
E.g. now, today, tomorrow, yesterday, then , soon
what is an adverb of degree?
This tells us to what extent the verb took place
E.g. rather, almost, fairly, radically, hard
what is an adverb of frequency?
This tells us how often something happened.
E.g. always, never, seldom, once
How do adverbs modify a sentence?
The insertion of these words usually states the authors opinion.
E.g. actually, certainly, naturally, honestly, luckily, obviously
-they are usually placed at the beginning of the sentence
(Naturally, nobody owned up to the deed)
Can adverbs have a degree of comparison?
