Side effects of adrenaline
Nervousness, anxiety, sweating, flushing, nausea, tachycardia, palpitations, dizziness, headache, tremor, hyperventilation
High lactate, hyperglycaemia
What interacts with adrenaline?
Bicarbonate forms solid clumps if given via the same cannula
Adrenaline is potentiated by tricyclic antidepressants and MAOIs
How is adrenaline metabolised?
Inactivated by Monoamine Oxidase, then excreted in urine.
What are the effects of adrenaline?
Sympathomimetic alpha and beta agonist
Positive inotropic effect
Peripheral vasopressor, increasing blood pressure and preserving vital organ perfusion (or reversing vasodilation in anaphylaxis)
Bronchodilation
