** Adrenaline **
Drug Class
**Sympathomimetic **- Acts on the adrenergic receptors of the sympathetic nervous system
Alpha 1 - Peripheral Vaso Constriction
Beta 1 - Increased force of contraction, Increased heart rate, increased ventricular irritability
Beta 2 - Bronchodilation

Indications
- Anaphylaxis
- Life-threatening asthma
- Cardiac Arrest
- Post-ROSC
- Severe croup

Preparation for Paediatric
Cardiac arrest and Rosc
Dilute 1 mg in 1 mL (1:1000) adrenaline with 9 mL sodium chloride 0.9% to produce 1 mg in 10 mL (1:10,000 )[100mcg/ml]

Dose
**Adult **- 1 mg IV/IO, repeat at 3-5 minutes( every 2nd round) as clinically indicated.
Paediatric / Newborn - 10 mcg/kg(0.1ml/kg) of 1:10,000 IV/IO, repeat every 3 - 5 mins (every 2nd round) as cliniically required (max bolus 1mg)

Dose
Adult - SBP < 100mmHg
(Post 2 x 250mml Sodium Chloride Boluses)
50 microg (0.5 mL) every 3-5 minutes as required to maintain SBP
**Paediatric **- SBP < 80mmHg
1 microg/kg every 3-5 min (max bolus dose 50 microg [0.5ml]) to maintain SBP

Anaphylaxis
Life threatening Asthma
Adult - 500mcg (1:1000) IM into lateral mid-thigh
Repeat every 5 minutes no max dose
Paediatric -10 microg/kg (1:1000) IM into lateral mid-thigh ( max bolus dose 500mcg), repeat every 5 minutes no max dose

- Tachyarrhythmias
- Palpitations
- Hypertension
- Pupil dilation
- Tremor
- Anxiety

Severe Croup
**Paediatric > 1month **- Nebulise 5 mg (1 :1000) undiluted, repeat after 15 minutes if required (repeat once only, further doses require ASMA consult)
