Epinephrine

A

Non selective

Indication:

IM/SubQ : Allergic reactions
IV: cardiogenic shock (cardiac arrest)
Aerosol: Airway obstruction (bronchospasm)

Side effects: bear side effects

A1, B1,B2

Vasoconstriction and increase heart rate

Atropine

A

IV: only for symptomatic bradycardia

PO drop:to reduce saliva (pre op, palliative)

Ophthalmic drop: to produce mydriasis

IM: cholinergic reversal OD (OD with MG drugs)

Side effects : tachycardia , nasal congestion , photophobia, blurred visions , dry mouth and skin , constipation , urinary retention

Contraindication: glaucoma , BPH , MG

A

Prevent this release of acetylcholine in CNS

Side effects: may effect PNS
Dystopia involuntary abnormal posture stiffness, contraction, twisting, distortions, spasm

Contraindication: history of Alzheimer’s or MG

Carbidopa-levodopa

MOA: dopamine replacement
Gradual lower effectiveness after 5 years of treatment

When used alone only reaches 1% of brain

Short duration (4-5 hrs, t1/2 50min) must take frequent doses
