How does Pardot handle deleted leads and contacts?
When a synced lead or contact is deleted in Salesforce, Pardot marks it as [[crm_deleted]] and sends it to the recycle bin. Pardot doesn’t recreate the lead or contact in Salesforce.
The following actions remove the [[crm_deleted]] flag and make the lead eligible for sync:
- Undelete the record in Salesforce.
- Create a record with the same email address in Salesforce if Auto-create leads in Pardot is created as lead or contact in Salesforce is enabled (only in accounts that don’t allow multiple leads with the same email address) .
- Use one of these Salesforce features: Send to Pardot, Send Pardot Email, Add to Pardot List, or Send Engage Email. In Pardot accounts that allow multiple leads to have the same email address, the Send to Pardot button does not clear the [[crm_deleted]] flag. Instead, create a lead record.
- Create a Pardot automation rule with an action to Allow a deleted CRM lead or contact to be recreated from Pardot.
How to Review and clear lead sync errors
in the Lightning app, select Pardot
Settings and then Connectors .
- Click on the icongear iconnext to the Salesforce connector, and then select Sync errors .
- Review and fix lead sync errors.
- Select the leads you want to resynchronize, then click the dropdown below the leads table and select
- Resynchronize Leads .
- Click Go .
