Reduced appetite/weight loss
High calorie meals when the stimulant effect is low (at breakfast and HS)
Cyproheptadine HS
Stomachache
Take on full stomach
Reduce dose
Insomnia
Give dose earlier in the day
Lower the last dose of the day or give it earlier
Add sedating medication (guanfacine, clonidine, melatonin, cyproheptadine)
HA
Divide dose
Take with food
Take an analgesic
Rebound symptoms
Long-acting stimulant trial
Atomoxetine
AD
Irritability/jitterinesss
Assess for comorbid condition
Reduce dose
Consider mood stabilizer or atypical APS
Dysphoria/euphoria
Reduce dose
Reassess diagnosis
Consider alternative therapy
Zombie-like state
Reduce dose, change stimulant
Tics/abnormal movement
Reduce dose, change medication
HTN/pulse fluctuation
Reduce dose, change medication
Hallucinations
D/C med
Reassess diagnosis
Mood stabilizer and/or APS may be needed
