Adaptive utensils
assist pts who have arthritis, tremors, physical disabilities, difficulty grasping, or poor fine motor skills
Built-up handled devices
are designed for pts who have arthritis, difficulty grasping, or poor fine motor skills
Buttonholers or button hooks
pulls the button through the hole. For pts with arthritis, poor fine motor skills, tremors, or parlysis
Canes
are appropriate for pts who can bear weight but have weakness on one side of the body. Should be at the pts hip
Crutches
pts who cannot bear weight on at least one leg
Long-handled devices
allow pts who have limited range of motion to perform ADL’s
Prosthetics
act in place of a missing body part
Reachers or grabbers
extend a pts reach, allowing them to retrieve items without bending or stooping
Stocking aids
help pts who have difficulty reaching and bending to put on their socks
Walkers
Provide the most stability for pts who can bear weight
