Q

How should the blood be drawn that is to be used to perform the ACT?

A
  • Do a venipuncture (preferably jugular) with the vacutainer system and collect 1-2 ml of blood in a tube. (This flushes the system of any tissue thromboplastins)
  • Replace the plain tube with the preheated ACT tube and collect 2 ml of blood
