Acquired Immunity - Cell Mediated Immunity Flashcards
CMI
eliminates cells that are infected using T cells as mediators
T Cells
T lymphocytes synthesized in the bone marrow, that mature into helper cells (Th) and cytotoxic cells (Tc) in the thalmus
Active TH cells
secrete cytokinases to improve immune cell function and stimulate B and T cell development
Active Tc cells
Bind to cells infected by the antigen and secretes a toxin to create pores that kill the cell
Cytokines
A set of molecules that act as chemical messengers for the immune system
- chemokines, hematoprotins, Interleukins, and TNF
Chemokines
Attract phagocytes and regulate the immune response
Hematoprorins
stimulate RBC formation
Interleukins
Regulate lymphocyte growth and differentiation, as well as acts as a pyrogen
Tumer Necrosis Factor (TNF)
Promotes inflammation and regulates cytokines production and growth factors
