Athletes >60s Corticosteroids or quinolone antibiotics Kidney disease Previous tendon injection or rupture

What is the presentation of achilles tendon rupture?
A
Sudden onset sharp pain in the heel- can feel like a kick or bullet, snapping sound
Difficulty walking

A
Simmonds triad
Imaging usually unnecessary

A
With patient lying prone in bed
- angle of declination= dorsiflexed
- gap felt above heel
- calf squeeze
