A

Sudden onset sharp pain in the heel- can feel like a kick or bullet, snapping sound

A

With patient lying prone in bed

  • angle of declination= dorsiflexed
  • gap felt above heel
  • calf squeeze
  • – += instant
  • – No movement= rupture

A
Conservative
-cast= foot in dorsiflexion
-boot= foot supported in dorsiflexion by wedges, decreasing the angle 
Rarely surgical
