abdominal viscera Flashcards
What is the Meckels Diverticulum
remnant of the vitelline duct; structure that pulls the gut through the peritoneum. Connects the foregut to the yolk sac in utero. Has HCl cells in it, unknown as to why but can cause issues e.g. corrode intestine
Coeliac trunk role and structure
abvoe kidneys below diaphragm and supplies the foregut.
Has 3 branches left gastric, splenic and common hepatic
Role of Superior mesenteric artery
Supplies the midgut: feeds arcades that go into the intestines. From the bottom of the duodenum to the splenic flecture
Role of the inferior mesenteric artery
supplies to the hindgut. : feeds large intestine from splenic flexure to the anus
Duodenal Papilar
where bile salts and pancreatic juices enter the duodenum to facilitate digestion
Proper hepatic role where is it from
branches off the common hepatic, feed liver tissue
right gastric role and where from
branches off the common hepatic to feed the right side go the stomach on the lesser curvature
Role of the gasproduodenal and where is it
feeds duodenum, branch off the common hepatic artery
Short gastric artery role and where is it from
to stomach from the splenic branch
left gastroepiploicrole and where is it from
branches off the splenic artery and feeds the greater curvature of the stomach
Splenic role and where is it from
branches into 3: gastroepiploic, short gastric and splenic continues to supply the spleen
Left gastric artery role and origin
one of the 3 branches off the coeliac trunk, role to supply lesser curvature go the stomach where it joins with the right gastric
Liver structure
4 lobes- left, right, caudate and quadrate
right and left operated by the falciform ligament which is double folded part of peritinium that tethers it to the abdominal wall
Round ligament ? where is it? what was it?
on the liver, was the umbilical coin in utero but duct shuts when take first breath and forms ligament
coronary ligamet role?
suspends the liver from the diaphragm
