AA Pharm - basic Flashcards
Class Ia
Na/K blockade
QRS widening
prolonged QT interval
Quinidine, Procainamide, dispyramide
Class Ib
Rapid acting Na blockade
Decreases QT interval
Lidocaine, Mexiletine, Tocainide
Bind in depolarized state –> good for ischemia
Rapidly unbinds –> good for V Tach
Class Ic
Long acting Na blockade
QRS widening
Flecainide, Propafenone
USE DEPENDENCE (incr toxicity at high HRs)
Class II
B blockade
Decreases HR (SA, AV node)
Selective B1: Acebutolol, atenolol, bisprolol, metoprolol, esmolol
Nonselective: Nadolol, propanolol
Class III
K+ channel blockade
QT prolongation
Sotalol, dofetilide, ibutilide, amiodarone
Class IV
Ca channel blockade
Non-DHP: slows AV node conduction (diltiazem, verapmil)
Dihydropyridines: peripheral vasodilators (amlodipine)
quinidine, procainamide, disopyramide
Class Ia
lidocaine, mexiletine, tocainide

Class II (nonselective)
sotalol, dofetilide, ibutilide, amiodarone
Class III
diltiazem, verapamil
Class IV (non DHP)
amlodipine
Class IV (dihydropyridine)
