9 Flashcards
Stimulus Control
Occurs when some measure of the behavior is altered by the presence of absence of an antecedent stimulus
Motivating Operation
Environmental variable that either increases or decreases how reinforcing or punishing a stimulus is, and either increases or decreases the current frequency of that behavior
Establishing Operation Vs Abolishing Operation
Similar: both change the effectiveness of stimulus
Different: Establishing increases the reinforcer effectiveness of stimulus; abolishing decreases the reinforcer effectiveness of stimulus
Behavioral Contingency
An “if-then” statement describing the cause and effect relation between a behavior and the consequence of that behavior
Descriptive Assessment
An assessment that involves direct observation of a behavior, and the consequences and antecedent surrounding that behavior, under naturally occurring conditions in order to form a hypothesis about the function
Indirect Assessments
Assessments that collect data from people familiar to the person who is engaging in the target behavior; it is used to identify conditions that correlate with the target behavior
Examples of Indirect Assessments
Structured Interviews, Rating Scales (MAS, ABLLS, etc.), Checklists (FAST), Questionnaires (FAIR-T, FAI), Record Reviews
Direct Assessments
Assessments that collects data from direct observation of target behavior and is used to identify conditions that correlate with the target behavior
Examples of Direct Assessments
ABC, scatterplot, FAOF
Measurable Dimensions of Behavior
Repeatability, temporal locus, temporal extent
Repeatability
The measurable dimension that refers to how often a behavior can be counted
Temporal Locus
The measurable dimension that refers to how a behavior occurs at a certain point in time in relation to other variables
Temporal Extent
The measurable dimension that refer to how behavior occurs during some duration of time
