6 Flashcards
Operant vs. Respondent Conditioning
Similar: Learning processes in which responses are conditioned
Different: Respondent conditioning occurs when a neutral stimulus is repeatedly paired with an unconditioned stimulus; Operant conditioning occurs when a stimulus change following a response alters future responses
Respondent Conditioning Contingency
US --> UR NS X UR US + NS --> UR (repeated) NS = CS CS --> CR
Operant Conditioning Contingency
SD –> R –> SR (increase in behavior)
SD –> R –> SP (decrease in behavior)
Differential Reinforcement
Reinforcing only those responses within a response class that meet a specific criterion and placing all other responses in the class on extinction
DRA
A procedure in which reinforcement is delivered for a behavior that serves as a desirable alternative to the behavior targeted for reduction and withheld following instances of the problem behavior
DRI
A procedure in which reinforcement is delivered for a behavior that cannot occur at the same time as the undesirable behavior and withheld following instances of the undesirable behavior
DRO
A procedure in which reinforcement is delivered for any behavior other than a target behavior that is being extinguished
DRL
A procedure in which reinforcement is delivered contingent on the rate of a target behavior occurring at or below a specified number of instances
DRH
A procedure in which reinforcement is delivered contingent on the rate of a target behavior occurring at or above a specified number of instances
Antecedent Intervention
A behavior change strategy that is implemented prior to and independent of the target behavior occurring
Types of Antecedent Interventions
NCR, High probability request sequences, FCT, task variation, pace of instruction, pre session pairing
Non-Contingent Reinforcement
An antecedent intervention in which a reinforcer is delivered on a fixed/variable schedule independent of target behavior occurring
High-P Request Sequence
An antecedent intervention in which a person presents a series of easy-to-follow requests with which the learner has a history of compliance in a sequence and then finishes with target request
Functional Communication Training
An antecedent intervention in which an appropriate communicative behavior is taught to replace an undesirable behavior and serves the same function
Stimulus Control
When a behavior occurs more in the presence of the SD than in its absence
