8.4 Low Visibility Operations Flashcards
LVTO Operations
- Down to 550m normal operation,
- Below 550m LVTO operations,
- Operaions at 400m or less requires specific approval
Requied T/O RVR Provides:
In the event of a EO at any point during takeoff:
- Stop or,
- Continue to 1500FT AAL while clearing obstacles
T/O RVR Requirements Below 400m
- 300m (day): RCLM & REDL,
- 300m (night): RCLM & REDL & REND or RCLL,
- 150m: RCLM & RENL & REDL & RCLL,
- 125m: RCLM & RENL & REDL (60m) & RCLL (15m),
- Initial RVR can be replaced by pilot assessment,
- RVRs should be achieved for whole ASD
- For 125m 90m visual segment required from cockpit (7 RCLL or 6 intervals)
AFM Lowest DH Limit For CAT III
Below 100FT but not less than 50FT
CAT II / III Visual Aid Requirements
- CAT II / IIIApproach Lights,
- Standard RWY Markings,
- CAT II / III RWY Lights
RYR LVO Approvals
CAT III:
- DH: 50FT,
- RVR: 200m,
- Rollout Control: Not required
CAT II:
- DH: 100FT,
- RVR: 300m
LVTO:
- RVR 125m
Failed or Downgraded Equipment Effects
- RVR Equipment: CAT III / II One must be available if 2 or more present,
- Approach Lights: CAT III / Not allowed if DH > 50FT, CAT II / Not allowed (if all or last 210m U/S),
- STBY PWR Switch Time: CAT III / II RVR 550m,
- REDL: CAT III / RVR 550m at night, CAT II / Not allowed at night,
- RTHL: CAT III / RVR 550m at night, CAT II / Not allowed at night,
- RENL: No effect if RCLL servicable,
- RCLL: CAT III / RVR Day 300m Night 400m, CAT II / RVR Day 350m Night 550m,
- TDZL: CAT III / II RVR Day 300m Night 550m
Anemometer Failure/Downgrade
- Captain only landing at night,
- PM monitors ND wind presentation
Successful Approach and Landing Criteria
Approach:
- From 500FT AAL to FLARE: Speed maintainted within 5KT (disregard fluctuations) and no system failure,
- From 300FT to DH: No excess deviation and centralised (including aural) warning
Landing:
- No relevant system or FLARE failure,
- Longitudinal touchdown between 150-750 (900m),
- Latertal touchdown with outboard landing gear within TDZ edge,
- Sink rate not excessive,
- Bank angle within limit
Visual Reference at DH
- At least 3 consecutive lights (RCLL, APL, TDZL, REDL or combination of these),
- Lateral element of ground pattern (APL Xbar, LDG Threshold, TDZL Barrette)
Height Callouts Requirement
Below 200FT shall be determined by RA
RYR LVO Aerodrome Requirement
Aerodrome shall only be used for LVO when Visibility < 800m:
- Aerodrome approved by its State,
- Low Visibility Procedures (LVP) have been established,
- If LVP term not used, equivalent procedures must stated in the Navblue charts
Practice CAT II / III
- Permitted to unprotected RWYs,
- Visibility 1500m or more, Ceiling 500FT or more including night
LVO Qualification Requirement
- Initially 3 Practice APP/LDG must be done during LIFUS,
- After that will require the supervision of Line Training Captain or TRE
ILS Suspected Spurious Interference
I made a go-around because of that:
- Inform CC to ensure all PEDs OFF,
- Entry to Technical Log,
- Submit ASR
