A
  • Unsafe LDG Gear indications or wheel/tyre damage,
  • Suspected complete brake failure,
  • Indications of fire/smoke,
  • Adverse flight control response or degradation of control capability,
  • Complete electrical generator failure,
  • Insufficient instrument/navigation capability for approach

Precautionary Landing

A
  • Fire/rescue/medical might be required,
  • But aircraft expected to be capable of maneuvering by its own,
  • Examples: Single engine landing, hydraulice failure, LDG Gear disagree but physically OK, Flapless LDG, false fire warning
  • Do not refer Fire/rescue/medical services as emergency services

Medical Emergency

A
  • Learn: Age, Sex, Complaint, Consciousness,
  • PAN x 3 and “REQUEST MEDICAL SERVICES”,
  • First airport choices company bases and destination then large familiar airports,
  • Better to proceed familiar a bit distant airport than short cut to unfamiliar one,
  • Medical Emergency shall not be considered a reason to rush or deviate from SOP

  • When pronounced dead by a doctor or nurse,
  • It’s best to return to departure or proceed to destination (support for family members)

  • Consider switching OFF all external lights except Anti-collision,
  • PF: look down and hand over control,
  • Turn up all internal lights to full bright,
  • Even a low power might impair vision up to 8 minutes,
  • Report the event

Company Operational Control Tracking System

A
  • Company uses GlobalBeacon,
  • 4 dimensional (lat, long, altitude and time),
  • Automatic position reporting at least every 15 minutes,
  • Maximum latency 10 minutes,
  • Auto distress tracking for: significant divergence from FPL, high ROD, loss of thrust on both engines etc

Operations With Inoperative APU

A
  • OCC plans to most suitable destinations and 2 sector duties,
  • If OAT > 30 degrees at the destination, call OCC to confirm ground AC,
  • Instruct cabin to lower window blinds on the sun side after deboarding,
  • Above 25 degrees request to connect ground AC ASAP,
  • Some Air Starters can be used as AC,
  • If no AC available, instruct No1 to open all doors until start clearance,
  • If no AC available and remote holding is not possible, delay boarding according to CTOT,
  • If APU fails after boarding with CTOT, arrange deboarding when cabin temperature > 25 degrees

Rapid Disembarkation

A
  • For security alert, smoke/fumes in the cabin, overheating PEDs, fuel spillage, fire outside of aircraft,
    -“DISEMBARK THE PASSENGERS IMMEDIATELY USING ALL AVAILABLE DOORS X 2”,
  • Commander and CSS retains the authority to upgrade to a full evacuation
