Q

Similarities and differences

A

BOTH

  • Heel-shin ataxia
  • Finger-nose ataxia
  • Eye move.: (CA) Normal/slow, (SA) sometimes abnor.
  • Gait: (CA) Broad-based & staggering, (SA) high stepping & unsteady

CA

  • Dysarthria: Scanning
  • Nystagmus

SA

  • Deep tendon reflexes: Absent
  • Joint position sense: Impaired
