Management
A
- Identify signs and symptoms. CT/MRI - ischemic or hemorrhagic stroke?
- ABC, intubate, O2, fingertip glucose, ECG, vital signs, IV access, lab. study
- Neurological screening
- Order CT/MRI
- Monitor BP

TIA
A
Atherothrombic TIA: ASPIRIN
Cardioembolic TIA: WARFARIN (if not good –> ASPIRIN)

Ischemic stroke
A
Acute: Fibrinolytic agent (ALTEPLASE), if not suitable, ASPIRIN/thrombectomy-within 6-8hrs
Post-ischemic therapy: CLOPIDOGREL + ATROVASTATIN

Hemorrhage stroke
A
Intracerebral: LABETALOL, post. fossa decompression
Subarachnoid: NIMODIPINE, endovascular coiling of aneurysm
