5.2 Flashcards
The reactions that change food into energy.
Metabolism
Making larger molecules out of smaller ones.
Anabolic
Breaking down larger molecules into smaller ones.
Catabolic
Releasing energy (Taking Out)
Exergonic
Inputing energy
Endergonic
Water is inserted in the reaction.
Hydrolysis
ADP being converted into ATP. ATP is then broken down into ADP. ADP then produces ATP again.
The ATP Cycle
A graph shows the reaction using less required energy, decreases using releasing more energy.
Exergonic Reaction.
A graph shows a reaction releasing more energy, increasing, then releasing using less energy.
Endergonic Reaction.
Why do exergonic reactions have to occur before endergonic reactions?
Exergonic can occur without the addition of energy.
EX: We have to do digestion in order to synthesis.
