1936 - Radio broadcasts strengthened participation in football and helped it to develop its audience
Why did sports stadia close during WW2 and how long did this last?
Due to fears of being bombed. Demand led to them reopening. Military able to form highly talented teams.
What form did sports taking during WW2?
Sports tended to take the form of charity games during the war: May 1943 - 55,000 attended a football match at Chelsea which raised £8000 for charity.
Who were tourist facilities geared towards in 1918?
Few WC people took holidays. Geared towards the UC e.g pricey seaside hotels, spa resorts and leisure facilities such as golf courses.
What was a popular holiday venture among the UC in 1918?
Sailing - people went to seaside resorts for the good of their health
Where did the UC go if they went abroad in 1918?
Few people went abroad and tended to go to exclusive locations like the French Riviera or for tours of art galleries and museums in Italy and Greece.
