4.3 S.G. Flashcards
What are greenhouse gases?
What do they do?
Greenhouse gases are gases that absorb and trap infrared light before releasing it. (Methane and carbon dioxide)
What is the Greenhouse Effect?
Why is it important?
The Greenhouse effect is the increase of temperature from greenhouse gases. It’s important because this is how global warming is happening today.
What do ice cores tell us about the patterns of CO2 and temperature for the past 800,000 years?
It shows the similarity between temperature and CO2 in every 20 thousand years.
What’s the difference between a positive and negative feedback loop?
A positive feedback loop reinforces or amplifies the initial disturbance, while Negative Feedback loops reduce the events of the initial disturbance.
