Small space formed by pleural membranes that surround the lungs. Contains visceral pleura (inner) and parietal pleural (outer). Pleural fluid in between
Pericardial cavity
Surrounds the heart and is formed by visceral pericardium (inner or epicardium) and parietal pericardium (outer). Pericardial fluid in between
Mediastinal cavity
Area between lungs that contain heart, thymus, large blood vessels, esophagus, trachea, and bronchi
Abdominal cavity
Superior portion of abdominopelvic cavity. Contains liver and stomach. Lined with peritonial cavity and has peritonial fluid between
Pelvic cavity
Inferior portion of abdominopelvic cavity. Contains bladder and reproductive organs
Diaphragm muscle
Between thoracic and abdominopelvic cavity
