Radio numbers are personally assigned to employee, unit numbers correspond to specific unit or beat

C - NE and Kingwood. D - SE and Clearlake. E - S Gessner and SW. H - Eastside and SC. I - Bush Airport. J - Hobby Airport. T - STEP.
What are the rules for LT or above regarding radio numbers?
Numbers are permanent for the duration of employee’s rank
What shall an employee do before turning off their radio when normally required to maintain contact?
Notify immediate supervisor or dispatch
When is the only times a field supervisor shall turn off their radio?
court/school function/ IST OR ordered it turned off by LT and above and notify dispatch, tactical situation requires it
What shall officer refrain from when using their radio on EJs?
Requesting incident numbers, call back info, telephone numbers or cabs.
Where shall employees working EJs go to request incident numbers, warrant info or license plate inquiries?
Their assigned patrol station/ if not on patrol ECD Watch Command
Are employees allowed to check out a radio for the purposes of an EJ?
No, not without commander approval
How shall a person or entity outside HPD request use of one of our radio frequencies?
