explain the council?
A
- henry ruled with a council of advisers who supported him in making key decisions
- contained around 6 or 7 members
job:- advise the king
- administer the realm on the kings behalf
- to make legal judgements
- permanent body with core membership

-Nobles: lords
-Churchmen: eg. Richard fox
Laymen: gentry lawyers

Explain the council learned?
A
- developed during the second half of Henry vii reign
- function to maintain the kings revenue and exploit is rights= helps system of bond and recognisances work effectively and ensure loyalty
- helped to raise finance
- Epsom and Dudley we’re part of the council, ruthless extraction of money made them unpopular and were executed after Henry’s death

Explain the court and household?
A
- centre of the government
- a persons power was determined by their relationship to the monarch

Explain the court in 1485?
A
- household proper: responsible for looking after the king +guests
- chamber: presided over by lord chamberlain a courtier who often spoke to the monarch
- after Perkin Warbeck, Henry remodelled the chamber as the privy chamber, made it difficult for anyone to gain the kings favour

A
- met infrequently
- comprised of the house of commons and house of lords
- only the king could call parliament
- he only called 7 parliaments in his reign
- his early parliaments were concerned with:
- national security eg. passing the act of attainder
- raising revenue eg. tonnage and poundage
