3B.2 ARM Flashcards
1
Q
The humerus
A
- key landmarks:
>head (articulate in the glenohumeral joint)
>2 necks (anatomical which is the epiphysial plate and the surgical neck)
>shaft
> greater tubercle
> lesser tubercle
>intertubercular sulcus
> deltoid tuberosity
> medial epicondyle
> lateral epicondyle
> capitulum & trochlea (articulate elbow)
>olecranon fossa (posteriorly)
2
Q
what muscles are in the Arm flexors compartment
A
- Biceps brachii
long head
short head
Supination: biceps
Shoulder flexion: coracobrachialis
Elbow flexion: brachialis, minor = bicipital aponeurosis
Nerves: Musculocutaneous (& radial)
- pierces coracobrachialis
- radial = 1/2 of brachialis in 70-80% of people
3
Q
rupture of the long head of the biceps
A
- popeye sign
-not medically treated unless you want a better look
4
Q
musculocutaneous nerve
A
- in front of humerus
- pierces coracobrachialis
-it can be injuried and shoulder dislocation
> loss of shoulder flexion, forearm supination + elbow flexion
5
Q
arm extensors
A
- arm extension
> long head
-forearm extension
>triceps (long, lateral + medial heads)
- Nerve: radial
