HTN, HTN meds, DM, smoking, CAD, peripheral vascular dz, HLD, Peyronie’s disease, Priapism treatment, pelvic trauma/surgery, dialysis, hypogonadism, alcohol use disorder, antidepressants, lack of sexual knowledge, poor sex technique, interpersonal problems
genito-pelvic pain penetration disorder: persistent/recurrent difficulties with ___ for 6 months
- vaginal penetration pain
- vulvovaginal or pelvic pain
- marked fear about pain before/during/after vaginal penetration
- marked tensing/tightening of pelvic floor muscles during attempted penetration
sensate focus technique for sexual dysfx
no intercourse for a period of time -> systematically re-introduce sexual stimulation
paraphilia
intense/persistent sexual interest other than that of genital stimulation/foreplay with phenotypically normal/mature/consenting human partners for 6+ months
non-victimizing vs victimizing paraphilias: how they usually present
- non-victimizing: no other co-morbid psych issues, considered an “alternative sexual lifestyle”/”kinky”
- victimizing: unlikely to seek treatment, highly comorbid with Antisocial Personality Disorder
sexual masochism disorder
derive sexual pleasure from self-suffering (humiliation, beating, bound)
hypoxyphilia
sexual arousal by oxygen deprivation - can cause sudden death or major damage, most common in young males
sexual sadism disorder
sexual arousal from the suffering of another person
exhibitionism
exposing genitals to ususpecting strangers
fetishistic disorder
sexual arousal from non-living objects or non-genital body parts - difficult to get aroused without it
frotteuristic disorder
touching/rubbing against a non-consenting person
population most prone to frotteuristic disorder
males, 15-25
transvestic disorder
sexually aroused by cross-dressing
voyeuristic disorder
sexual arousal by watching an unsuspecting person who is naked, disrobing, or engaging in sexual activity
age limit for voyeuristic disorder
must be 18+, otherwise just considered “curiosity”
