Q

What is a tissue

A

A group of specialized cells with similar structure and function. They can be made of more than one type of cell. Examples include msucular tissue

Q

Different types of tissues

A

Msucular tissue-contract and bring about movement
Glandular tissue-contains secretory cells that can produce and release substances such as enzymes and hormones
Epithelia tissue-covers the outside of your body as well as your internal organs

Q

What are organs and examples

A

Organs are a collection of tissues working tigether to produce a specific function.

Muscular tissue-to churn down food and digestive juices of the stomach together
Glandular tissue-to produce digestive juices that break down food
Epithelial tissue-shich covers the inside and the outside of the organ

Q

What are organ systems

A

Are a groups of organs that all work together to perfom specific fucntions. Stomach is part of digestive system along with organs such as liver and small inestine

Q

What is the role of the digestive system

A

The purpose of the digestive system is to break down large molecules into smaller, soluble molecules, which are then absorbed into the bloodstream. The rate of those reavtions are increased by enzymes

Q

Role of liver

A

Lover produces bule which is stored in the gall bladder. Bule breaks up fat food into smaller droplets in small intestine which can mix woth watery liquids.

Q

Role of pancreas

A

Secrets hormones that control glucose levels in blood as glucose tends to rise. Insulin released which converts excess glucose into glycogen and pancrease converts glycogen back into glucose

Q

Role of small intestine

A

Made up duodenum and ileum and bile enters duodenum which breaks fat into tiny droplets which lipase break down.
Glands in ileum produce enzymes to break down food and small molecules of food pass through walls into bloodstream

Q

Role of large intestine

A

Indigestible material and water remains and and colon absorbes water into blood and undigested material becomes solid which is then passed out the body through rectums and anus

17
Q

Order of digestive system

A

Mouth(salivary glands)-oesophagus)-stomach-liver-pancreas and gall bladder-small inestine-large intestine-rectum-anus
