what is the cerebral cortex
A
The outer surface of the cerebrum, is involved with complex mental abilities, memory, language, thinking and problem-solving

what is grey matter in the cerebral cortex
A
Exists on the outskirts of the brain
- High density of cell bodies and neural connections

what is white matter in the cerebral cortex
A
Includes axons reach from cortex to deeper parts of the brain, and paler colour than outer cortex. Is white and fatty- because of the myelin coating all of the neurons.
- Connections come from the white matter
