There are two types of constraints on a business what are they
• Internal constraints : how a lack of worker motivation ,poor quality machinery and poor conditions of work effect the quality and output of a company
• external constraints : how legislation (laws) and self regulation
(what a company states it will not do) might limit the activities a company does
What is a contract of employment and what does it contain
It is a written agreement between the employer and employee. Which must be given to the employee within eight weeks starting work It contains:
- Rates of pay
- hours of work
- Holiday allowance
- Pension allowance
- amount of notice when leaving company
What business are most affected by an increase in minimum wage
• Small businesses who find it harder to cope with increases in costs
• businesses which employ a large number of low skilled workers
Examples:

- leisure businesses
What are the impacts of providing health & safety
• improve motivation
• reduce accident
• Reduce absences or loss of work one to injury
• Reduce insurance clamps and claims against the business
• Prevent errors
How does the law affect workers when they leave their job
• Resignation: Employees must work their notice period.
• Redundancy: Workers get compensation if their job no longer exists.
• Dismissal:workers can be immediately dismissed by:
- theft
- fighting
- being drunk
- swearing at the boss
Minor issues (lateness, too many breaks) usually get warnings first.
