Who may interview a prisoner?
- supervisory officer of this Department
- member of detective bureau or detective squad
- district attorney or representative
- chief medical examiner or representative
- prisoner’s legal representative
- official of a city department, if prisoner is an employee of that department
- federal LE officer
- member of the clergy (upon request by pris)
- NYS division of parole to serve parole violation papers
- foreign consulate/embassy officers
What are the requirements for parent/legal guardian visits?
- prisoner is between 16 and 21
- not longer than 15 min
- conducted in the mister room
- specific supervisor above is consulted
- detained for more than 4 hours
- not eligible for summons
- does not interfere with police business
Assign additional escort officer when
- more than 2 prisoners and transport chains are not available
- more than 9 prisoners being transported by transport chains
- several detention stops are involved
- more than one prisoner with different destinations
- prisoner is designated high risk

Guarding member at hospital will only allow the following persons to visit prisoner:
- Authorized family member with official letterhead
- telegram recipient from hospital superintendent saying perp is seriously ill.
- lawyer if requested by prisoner.
