What does sperm need?
Needs fluid for mobility and energy to move
What is semen?
Milky fluid containing sperm and liquid secretions from the seminal vesicles and the prostate gland
What does the seminal vesicles produce?
A liquid rich in fructose that has hormone like compounds to stimulate contractions of female reproductive tract
What does the prostate gland produce?
A liquid containing enzymes to maintain fluid at optimum viscosity for sperm mobility
What does the follicle protect?
Protects developing ova
What does the follicle secrete?
Oestrogen
When is the corpus luteum formed?
After ovulation
What does the corpus luteum secrete?
Progesterone
Where does fertilisation occur?
The oviduct
What is fertilisation?
Mature ova are released into the oviduct where they may be fertilised by sperm to form a zygote
