2.1 Exploring Patterns Flashcards
Adjacent Angles
Two angles are adjacent if they share a common vertex and side, but have no common interior points
Line Segment
Line segment AB consists of the endpoints A and B and all points of the line AB that lie between A and B
Ray
Ray AB consists of the initial point A, and all points on the line AB that lie on the same side of A as B lies
Opposite Rays
If A is between B and C, then ray AB and ray AC are opposite rays
Collinear
Points, rays, and segments that are on the same line are collinear
Angle
An angle consists of two different rays and an initial point. The rays are the sides of the angle and the initial point is the vertex of the angle
Acute Angle
An acute angle is an angle that measures greater than 0 degrees, and less than 90 degrees
Right Angle
A right angle is an angle that measures 90 degrees
Obtuse Angle
An obtuse angle is an angle that measures greater than 90 degrees, and less than 180 degrees
Straight Angle
A straight angle is an angle that measures 180 degrees
Interior of an Angle
Every nonstraight angle has an interior. A point D is in the interior of (angle sign) A, if it is between the points that lie on each side of the angle
Exterior of an Angle
Every nonstraight angle has an exterior. A point D is in the exterior of (angle sign) A, if it is not on the angle or in the interior of the angle
