204 Flashcards
204.1 Explain the role and discuss services provided by the JFTOC:
- The Joint Fleet Telecommunications Operations Center interacts with fleet and joint customers via a variety of means (message traffic, SIPR Chat, POTS, DSN, DRSN, VOSIP, VTC, etc.) to support mission readiness and troubleshooting efforts. They directly support communications for the fleet and serve as NCTAMS LANT Operational watch.
204.2 Define the role of NCTS in NETWARCOM:
- Naval Computer Telecommunications Stations are subordinate to their corresponding area master station (NCTAMS LANT or PAC) and provide specialized support services in their corresponding local area and work to inter-connect the local customers to the global communications grid. NCTS are supported additionally by communication detachments known as DET’s.
204.3 Explain how a unit attains TIP access:
- Units must submit a Satellite Access Request (SAR), and upon approval (SAA) the ISIC will create an EHF Service Plan (ESP) detailing individual EHF circuit/Net setup based on EHF SAA. They will also create a TPP (EHF TIP Port Plan) IAW SAA guidelines, the ESP and GCIB-7N. Units assigned access IAW the above criteria will setup their EHF TIP Nets IAW the generated ESP and EHF TPP.
204.4 Explain SAR/SAA procedures for the following: [ref. b]
a. EHF - Unit submits SAR via JIST, C2F verifies and validates SAR, JFCOM approves SAR, RSSC Conus sends SAA, NCTL Tacplans includes in tacmemo.
b. INMARSAT - Unit sends SAR to C2F, C2F verifies and assigns leases to unit, NCTL TACPLANS includes in TACMEMO Service no longer supported.
c. CWSP/CBSP - Unit sends SAR via message traffic, NAVNETWARCOM sends assignment (includes SATTY/BW/MSN#), NCTL TACPLANS send SAA. CWSP replaced by CBSP
d. SHF DSCS - Unit submits SAR via JIST, C2F verifies and validates SAR, JFCOM approves SAR, RSSC Conus sends SAA, NCTL Tacplans includes in tacmemo.
204.5 Define and state the purpose of KM:
- Knowledge Management refers to a range of practices used by organization to identify, create, represent, and distribute knowledge for learning across the organization.
204.6 Define and state the purpose of ASI:
- ASIs are scheduled periods of network, equipment, or system downtime required to perform preventive maintenance actions, software or equipment upgrades or replacement, system reboots, etc
204.7 Define and state the purpose of AESOP:
- Computer program for coordinating spectrum interoperability in afloat operations worldwide. Provides automatic frequency planning for radar and weapon systems as well as the process of generating communication plans.
204.8 Define and state the purpose of the CCS:
- Communications Control Ships are a designated platform responsible for the execution of a strike group communications and communications planning. They also perform other communication related functions, such as OTAT’s, Tech Support, Training, and provide details to the CSG/ESG staff on the total communications ability of all of the platforms within that particular ESG/CSG based upon unit Communication Equipment Population Summary (CEPS) and limitations by equipment/CASREP.
