Features of lymphadenopathy - Inflammatory causes

Viral - EBV/ adenovirus/ rhinovirus/ TB/ HIV

progressive enlargment
non tranmissable
fixed and irregular
Thyroid/ salivary/ skin
What lymphadenopathy is present during lymphoma?
muiltiple smooth and firm but not hard
How are lymphadenopahty investigated?
USS then needle biopsy
if needle biopsy fails then core biopsy is used
What the dissadvante of fine need aspiraiton?
Cytology is collected however the archutecture of the cells are lost
What is globus haryngeus?
Sensation of lump in the throat, this is not true dysphagia or odynophagia and therefore is not a 2 weeks wieght criteria.
What is aetology of tonsil malignancy?
Eldery - smoking
Younger - EBV
Risk factor for tongue cancer?
smoking
spirit drinking
Where is nasopharyngeal cancer common?
Hongkong
What are the B syptoms?
Fever
Weight loss
Night sweats
What is the most common form of Hodgkins lymphoma?
Nodular sclerosing - collagen surrounding Reid Sternberg cells.
Good prognosis
What is the 2nd most common form of Hodgins lymphoma?
Mixed cellularity
Very large number of Reid steinberg cells
Which form of Hodkins lymphoma has the worst prognosis?
Lymphocyte depleted
Which form of Hodkins lymphoma has the best prognosis?
lymphocyte predominant
What is leukaemia?
malignant neoplastic process invovling a white cell lineage
