Q

Submission of the Clergy

A

Henry charged 15 churchmen of praemunire (1530)

When convocation met in 1531 it was made apparent a sum of £100,000 and recognition of H as Supreme Head would suffice to drop the charges

Convocation was weak from Wolsey’s fall so they accepted and 1532 Parliament act made it official

Q

Anne Boleyn

A

She had refused Henry’s advances unlike her sister Mary

This kept H keen and finally in 1532 although Francis refused to formally meet the pair his formal welcoming of H was enough to allow them to finally sleep together for first time in Calais

Without French support he couldn’t marry Anne as neither S nor F would support him then (bad position)

1533 Cranmer secretly married them (Pope had name Cranmer as new ArchB of Canterbury) and she was immediately pregnant
