Coordination

A
  • Coordination = co- = lat. cum = with
  • Un énoncé peut être coordonné (même niveau syntaxique) par une conjonction de coordination (and, or, but, for)
  • Absence de hiérarchie syntaxique pour la coordination, contrairement à la subordination
  • Les deux propositions sont sur le même niveau syntaxique, elles sont mises l’une à côté de l’autre
  • Absence de hiérarchie syntaxique mais présence de hiérarchie sémantique

  • Chronologique (and then) => You’ll have dinner and go to bed
  • Résultatif (and as a result) => I don’t like banana and never eat it
  • Itératif (and again) => He went on and on speaking about his trip to LA
  • Conditionnel (if…then) => Scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours
  • Commentaire (and my belief is that) => He went to bed and that was the best thing to do
  • Contrastif (while, yet) =>Tom is handsome and Peter ugly

FOR peut être :
* Une** préposition devant un nom** : I’ll do it for you
