Are ovaries of postmenopausal women completely quiescent? What still works? Do they have estrogen?
No, although follicle depletion leads to decrease in estradiol production. LH can still stimulate androgen production. Estrone (extra-gonadal) is predominant estrogen in post-menopausal women
Changes is late reproductive years: hormonal? cycle length?
inhibin decreases, FSH increases, E levels maintained, P level decline. Follicular phase shortens (14–>10 days)
Average age of perimenopause onset? duration?
47, 4 years
What happens to FSH levels during perimenopause? After menopause?
fluctuate a lot. Near the final period the FSH increase becomes sustained but eventually declines

hyperthyroid is main one. Also pregnancy, hyperprolactinemia. Retrospectively after 12 months of amenorrhea.
