20-24, only small decrease until 30, then rapid decrease
decreased ovarian reserve: what is it?
decline in number and quality of oocytes with age
endometriosis: definition? consequences? why does it cause infertility?
endometrial tissue outside of uterus. Responds to hormonal changes and causes pelvic pain and infertility
distorts adnexal anatomy preventing ovum capture. State of chronic inflammation which impairs function of ovaries, uterus, etc
what are the five tests we can do to evaluate infertility
semen analysis, documentation of ovulation, assess ovarian reserve, assess uterine cavity, documentation of tubal patency
how do you measure ovarian reserve?
day 3 FSH (>10 is decreased OR). AMH (produced by antral follicles in proportion to their number), Antral follicle count (via transvaginal US)
How do you assess tubal patency
hysterosalpinogram (HSG), saline infused sonohistogram, laproscopy with chromopertubation
