Collins’ Squad killed 13 British intelligence agents; Auxiliaries responded with open firing onto the crowd, killing 12 people including one footballer, Michael Hogan
Anglo-Irish Treaty
A treaty signed by the Irish and British, bringing an end to the War of Independence in December 1921

How did the Irish Civil War start?

Headed by Éamon de Valera and Cathal Brugha; voted against the treaty; wanted a full republic
